World Day of Prayer for the Sanctification of priests • 12 June

O Jesus, eternal Priest,

keep your priests within the shelter of Your Sacred Heart,

where none may touch them.

Keep unstained their anointed hands,

which daily touch Your Sacred Body.

Keep unsullied their lips,

daily purpled with your Precious Blood.

Keep pure and unearthly their hearts,

sealed with the sublime mark of the priesthood.

Let Your holy love surround them and

shield them from the world’s contagion.

Bless their labors with abundant fruit and

may the souls to whom they minister be their joy and consolation here and in heaven their beautiful and everlasting crown.

St Thérèse of Lisieux’s Prayer for Priests

A morning prayer of St Columba (Colum Cille) • 9 June

‘Be thou a bright flame before me, Be thou a guiding star above me, Be thou a smooth path below me, Be thou a kindly shepherd behind me, Today, tonight, and evermore. Amen.’

St Ephrem the Syrian • 10 June

‘Let books be your dining table, / And you shall be full of delights. / Let them be your mattress, / And you shall sleep restful nights’

‘Scripture brought me to the Gate of Paradise, and the mind stood in wonder as it entered.’

‘Patience has a habit of granting everything to those who possess it.’

Consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus • 12 June

Lord Jesus Christ,

Son of the Living God,

we praise you for the love

that you have revealed

through your Sacred Heart,

which was pierced for us

and which has become the fountain

of our joy, the source of our eternal life.

In consecrating ourselves to you,

we renew our desire to respond in love

to the rich outpouring of your merciful love.

Lord Jesus Christ,

King of love and Prince of peace,

reign in our hearts and in our homes.

Conquer all the powers of evil

and bring us to share in the victory of your Sacred Heart.

May all we say and do give glory

and praise to you and to the Father

and the Holy Spirit,

one God living and reigning for ever and ever. Amen.

From the prayer of Pope St John Paul II

Prayer for Good Humor

Grant me, O Lord, good digestion, and also something to digest. Grant me a healthy body, and the necessary good humor to maintain it. Grant me a simple soul that knows to treasure all that is good and that doesn’t frighten easily at the sight of evil, but rather finds the means to put things back in their place. Give me a soul that knows not boredom, grumblings, sighs and laments, nor excess of stress, because of that obstructing thing called ‘I.’ Grant me, O Lord, a sense of good humor. Allow me the grace to be able to take a joke to discover in life a bit of joy, and to be able to share it with others.

St Thomas More (1478-1535) 22 June

Prayer for Life Day for Life • 21 June

Father and maker of all, you adorn all creation with splendor and beauty, and fashion human lives in your image and likeness.

Awaken in every heart reverence for the work of your hands, and renew among your people a readiness to nurture and sustain your precious gift of life.

Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God forever and ever.

Amen.
